Following the money…
In one way or another most of us are invested in the global banking and financial system -through our banks, credit cards, insurance, mortgages, pension funds and a myriad of other financial products. Making the world banking and financial system environmentally sustainable is one of the key challenges and solutions that is needed -so that we are all investing in the future of our planet instead of being inadvertently complicit in its destruction. Through my InvestEarth journalism project I will be ‘following the money’ and investigating how and where it is being invested; the personal stories of those affected; and how the system can be changed.
Whilst my reports are focused on the personal stories behind our investments, my journalism is strongly rooted in hard fact and data. With this in mind I would highlight the Our World in Data website as a key source of reliable data driven information for anyone interested in this field.
My journalism in this area is aimed at complimenting the work of Make My Money Matter campaign launched by Richard Curtis (of Comic Relief) and ShareAction, the leading campaign NGO in this field.
